Unless a State invests in socialising its citizenry to progressive values, democratic norms will not be embedded in society. Without equality and fraternity, there will continue to be exclusions on the basis of gender, caste and creed- in the nation’s social and economic life. Without justice (socio-economic & political), there can be no redress to graded inequalities (patriarchy, communalism, casteism). Given this, how has India fared in furthering constitutional promises of equality, justice and fraternity in the last 75 years?
